Two Easy Things You Can Do to Encourage the Chancellor to Pay You the SSI or Equity Pay He Owes You!

As the “CFA Headlines” have stated, CFA is now allowed to strike because the Chancellor is refusing to pay the SSIs and Equity Pay given to us in our LAST contract, even though THREE impartial fact-finders have ruled that he should do so. There are two easy things you can do to put pressure on the Chancellor.

  1. The CFA Exec Board is walking the halls these days, asking people to sign a “Commit Card” supporting picketing that will occur on our campus on November 8, one day strikes that will occur at CSU Dominguez Hills and CSU East Bay on November 17, and possible strikes that might occur on our campus during winter quarter. Each faculty member can “vote” for the actions they feel they can support. It would help our efforts A LOT if you would fill out and submit the “Commit Card” online rather than waiting for us to visit your office. You can do so by visiting this area of the calfac.org site: http://www.calfac.org/nov17questions#–enough-is-enough-e-commit-card
Go to the bottom of the page in order to fill out the form, and email it to ecommit@calfac.org with the subject line “Completed Commit Card”.
  2. Increasing our faculty membership percentage also sends a clear message to the Chancellor that faculty members support CFA’s demands. In the last year, the Cal Poly faculty membership percentage has almost DOUBLED, but many faculty members are still not a member of CFA, even though they pay full dues. If you are not currently a member, we urge you to join the union and send a message to Chancellor Reed that he should honor the contract he signed with us. You can find a copy of the membership form (pdf and word) on the “Join CFA!” button on the Cal Poly Blackboard site, or you can join online using the “Join CFA button at the top of this calfac.org website.
